The women beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin scheme may not get Rs 2,100, as promised by the Mahayuti alliance before the Assembly elections, from March this year. Minister for Women and Child Development Aditi Tatkare said that the alliance had promised the hike from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100 in its manifesto. However, the leaders did not make any promise to disburse it from March 2025. The manifesto was for five years. Even in the budget, no such promise has been made, she added. The proposal is with the government, but the date from which it will be disbursed has not been mentioned.
Crores of women beneficiaries under the scheme have been waiting to receive the hikes in financial support under the scheme. Tatkare, however, assured that the installment of February and March will be transferred on the eve of International Women’s Day (March 8).
