Nagpur’s Heritage Conservation Committee Chairman, Dr. Anup Kumar, has directed the Collector’s Office to submit a proposal to the Maharashtra government for transferring government-owned land at Zero Mile to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for its beautification and development.
In a meeting held on Thursday at the NMC headquarters, discussions focused on securing CSR funds from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for the project, following a proposal made to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Anup Kumar, was attended by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Itankar, Chief Engineer Leena Upadhyay, and IOC officials Atul Gupta and Pradeep Paul.
Dr. Anup Kumar emphasized making all surrounding government land available for the project, including a tourist parking facility on NMC land. The Public Works Department (PWD) is already handling Zero Mile’s beautification with Maharashtra government funds, while IOC’s CSR funds will be used for developing the surrounding areas. Further steps will be taken after government approval of the land transfer.
