Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 2, raided Publico Café Hookah Parlour near Campus Chowk in Ambazari area on Friday and apprehended two individuals for allegedly supplying tobacco-based hookah flavors. The action was taken on Friday following reports of illegal activities at the café.
The individuals taken into custody were identified as Vikas Raju Dagor (31), a resident of Ramnagar, Telangkhedi, and the café owner, along with Navneet Shankar Varkhade (27), a resident of Mangalwari Bazaar, Sadar, who worked as the café manager.
During the raid, police seized 15 hookah pots and a stock of tobacco-based hookah flavors. The total value of the confiscated items was estimated at ₹39,400.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 4(1)(21) and 5(1)(21) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). The accused, along with the seized materials, have been handed over to Ambazari police for further investigation.
Police have urged citizens to report establishments engaging in illegal tobacco sales to ensure compliance with public health regulations.
