Ambazari police raided two establishments — Tamasha Lounge in Ramnagar and Saffron Café in Shivaji Nagar — for allegedly serving banned tobacco-based hookah products to customers.
The first raid took place at Tamasha Lounge between 9:45 pm and 10:30 pm on March 7, where police caught two individuals — Brijesh Badri Prasad Pal (33), a resident of WCL Quarters in Saoner, and Aditya Manik Ingle (25), a resident of Ganpati Nagar, Zingabai Takli — supplying prohibited hookah products. Authorities seized hookah-related materials worth ₹9,880 from the spot.
In the second raid at Saffron Café, conducted between 8:45 pm and 9:30 pm the same evening, police apprehended Anshulal Jagdishprasad Vishwakarma (31), a resident near Hanuman Mandir, Gokulpeth, Ambazari, for providing similar banned substances. Police confiscated hookah equipment valued at ₹8,980 from the premises.
Following the raids, cases were registered against the accused at Ambazari Police Station under sections 4(1)(21) and 5(1)(21) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003, along with the Maharashtra Amendment Act 2018.
