Three law students from a private university have moved the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, requesting the dismissal of a molestation case filed against them by a woman police constable (WPC). On Tuesday, the police informed the court that a charge sheet had already been submitted before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
A division bench of Justices Nitin Sambre and Vrushali Joshi heard the case. The accused are fourth-year law students. According to the complainant, the incident occurred on October 1, 2024, in the Bharat Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Kalamna police station.
According to media report, the accused were allegedly riding triple-seat on a motorcycle at high speed when the WPC stopped them for a traffic violation and asked for their driving license. The complainant claimed that the students not only refused to cooperate but also misbehaved with her, made obscene gestures, and issued threats.
“We are law students; we know the law. Issue the challan here, or we’ll strip your uniform and kill you,” the complainant quoted the accused as saying. The accused, through counsel Rajnish Vyas, petitioned for quashing the case, which includes charges of molestation and criminal intimidation. The court has scheduled the next hearing in two weeks
