Students of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Priyadarshini Marathi Upper Primary School, Futala, celebrated Holi in a unique way by performing the ‘Holika Dahan of bad habits’ on Thursday. They wrote their bad habits on paper and burned them in the Holika bonfire, symbolizing their commitment to positive change. The students pledged to let go of negativity and embrace good habits.
This thoughtful initiative, led by headmistress Dr. Vasudha Vaidya, was appreciated by NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, Additional Commissioner Anchal Goyal, and Education Officer Sadhana Sayam.
Many students struggle with undesirable habits like lying, stealing, disobedience, addiction to harmful mobile games, lack of cleanliness, fighting, and using abusive language. To encourage them to overcome these habits, Dr. Vasudha Vaidya introduced an innovative approach. She listed around 15 common bad habits on individual sheets of paper, which students held as placards while chanting slogans like *”होळी रे होळी दुर्गुणांची होळी”* (“Holika Dahan of Bad Habits”).
In a symbolic gesture, they burned these habits in the Holi fire, pledging to improve their behaviour and adopt positive changes.
The celebration concluded with a joyful exchange of gulal and a shower of flowers. Teachers, including Gaware, Chavare, Shende, Moharir, Ghaywat, Hatwar, and Urkude, along with former students, played a key role in making the event a success.
