Nagpur: R Sandesh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. was allegedly defrauded of ₹76 lakh by a couple under the pretense of selling land. The fraud, which came to light after verification, has led to a case being registered at Sitabuldi police station.
According to police, complainant Dilip Pralhadrai Agrawal (49), a resident of Gauri Heights, Ramdaspeth, runs a business dealing in plots, duplexes, and flats. His company, R Sandesh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., is located at Plot No. 135, Ramdaspeth.
Between November 1, 2020, and July 30, 2021, Agrawal came in contact with the accused, Jaya Pankaj Rathi (54) and Pankaj Maheshkumar Rathi, both residents of Shivaji Nagar, Ambazari. The couple allegedly forged documents to falsely claim ownership of 0.60 hectares of land in Khasra No. 121, Mouza Lava, Nagpur.
Citing financial difficulties, the accused agreed to sell the land to Agrawal for ₹96 lakh and accepted an advance payment of ₹76 lakh. However, during verification, Agrawal discovered that only 50% of the land was legally owned by Jaya Rathi, while the remaining portion belonged to another party.
Realizing the fraud, Agrawal approached Sitabuldi police, who registered a case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. Further investigations are underway.
