The first aircraft at Amravati’s Belora Airport landed safely with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Amravati’s Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu as first passengers. The wait for almost 14 years of the people of Amravati ended today as Fadnavis dedicated the airport on Wednesday. Amravati is now directly connected to Mumbai via a 72-seater Alliance Air service. The flights will be operated three days a week – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The booking for the first day was full. Union Minister murlidhar Mohol, Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan.
A large number of people had gathered at the airport to welcome the guests. The traditional water cannon salute was accorded to the aircraft at the airport.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion Fadnavis said that Amravati is now on the world map. Soon, a pilot training school will be started in Amravati. The Centre gave us the first aircraft for Amratai through which we travelled today.
The development of the airport was started in 2019 and completed today with the cooperation of PM Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. The hurdles were removed after the Mahayuti came to power in Maharashtra. The runway will be further extended so that any aircraft can land here, he added.
The Pilot Training School to be developed in Amravati will be the biggest school in South East Asia. The airport will also improve the economy of Amravati and adjoining areas. For industrialists, air connectivity is very important.
Out of the seven textile parks, one will be developed in Amravati, which would generate direct and indirect employment for about two lakh people. The Samruddhi Mahamarg will be connected to Wadhwan dock and JNPT, Fadnavis said.
