The air traffic at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will be paused for six hours on May 9 for maintenance work, the Mumbai International Airport Limited has informed on Saturday.
The authorities have said that repair and maintenance works of 09/27 and 14/32 air strips are required to be completed before the onset of monsoon. The works will be carried out between 11 am and 5 pm on May 9. The pilots were informed six months in advance, so that they could plan their schedule of work. The experts are examining the runways, MIAL has stated.
The busiest airport in India, Mumbai’s International Airport, is handling about 482 flights every day (about 40 flights every hour), with operations extending to around 14,460 flights monthly. The impressive volume accommodates over 52.8 million passengers annually, surpassing its designed capacity of 50 million.
