The intense summer heat continues to grip Nagpur, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 44.0°C on April 20. This marks a 0.7°C increase in 24 hours and is 3.4°C above normal, signaling a severe heatwave in the region. The minimum temperature dipped to 24.0°C, down by 2.8°C from the previous day. Relative humidity stood at 29% at 8:30 am and 23% by 5:30 pm, indicating dry and oppressive conditions.
Other parts of Vidarbha are witnessing similar conditions:
Chandrapur recorded the highest in the region at 44.6°C, 3.2°C above normal. Amravati and Brahmapuri followed closely at 44.4°C, both showing significant departures from normal. Yavatmal reached 43.6°C, and Wardha and Washim both hit 44.0°C and 42.6°C, respectively. Gadchiroli saw 42.6°C with rising minimum temperatures, contributing to uncomfortable nights. Buldana, though slightly cooler at 39.6°C, still recorded a rise of 1.4°C above normal.
Humidity levels remained low across most cities, compounding the dry heat’s effect. Bhandara reported the highest relative humidity at 60% (morning), with Buldana and Wardha experiencing relatively less humid but hot conditions.
