Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has once again brought laurels to the city by winning the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Administrative Excellence Award for the year 2023-24. The award, presented by the Maharashtra Government’s General Administration Department, was conferred by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the Civil Services Day event held in Mumbai.
NMC Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari received the award at the ceremony, which was also attended by Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik.
This year, the award has been given for NMC’s innovative Financial Accounting System (FAS) developed by its Information Technology department. The system has been recognized for its contribution to efficient financial planning and transparency in civic operations. The award carries a cash prize of ₹10 lakh.
Under the 2023-24 Rajiv Gandhi Administrative Excellence Campaign and Competition, proposals were invited from across the state. NMC’s system was selected by the state-level committee from among direct entries and nominations recommended by departmental panels.
This marks the second consecutive year NMC has won the award. In the previous year, it was honored for its Geo-Civic Property Tax Management System. The back-to-back recognition highlights NMC’s continued efforts toward innovative and technology-driven governance.
The award stands as a testament to NMC’s commitment to modernizing civic administration and ensuring greater accountability and service delivery to citizens.
