As Nagpur battles an intense heatwave with temperatures soaring beyond 45 degrees Celsius, three unidentified men have been found dead in separate parts of the city, with heatstroke suspected as the possible cause. All victims were found unconscious in public places and later declared dead at hospitals.
In the first incident, reported on April 22 around 7:30 AM, an unidentified man believed to be around 45 to 50 years old was found unconscious behind Sheetla Mata Mandir in the Nandanvan police station area. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared him dead. Following medical confirmation, Nandanvan Police registered a case of accidental death.
A second case came to light in the Tehsil Police Station limits. On April 20 around 4:15 PM, a man of approximately 50 years was found unconscious at Agrasen Chowk. He was admitted to Mayo Hospital, where he passed away during treatment at 2:00 AM on April 21. An accidental death report has been filed by Tehsil Police based on the medical report.
The third death occurred on the evening of April 21. Around 8:00 PM, another unidentified man, also believed to be around 50 years old, was found in an unconscious state near the Gandhi Bagh cloth market. He was immediately taken to Mayo Hospital but was declared brought dead. A similar accidental death entry has been made.
With no external injuries reported and all deaths occurring amid extreme temperatures, police suspect heatstroke as the underlying cause. Postmortem examinations have been ordered to determine the exact reasons. Police are working to establish the identities of the deceased. Further investigation is ongoing.
