Nagpur: Vidarbha continued to reel under intense heat on Monday, with most districts recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Nagpur registered a maximum temperature of 42.3°C, rising by 3.1 degrees compared to the previous day. The minimum temperature in the city was 24.0°C, while relative humidity stood at 48% in the morning and dropped to 22% by the evening.
Across Vidarbha, Akola emerged as the hottest spot, touching a searing 44.5°C, followed by Washim and Wardha at 42.4°C each. Yavatmal also reported high temperatures, clocking 42.9°C.
Other significant readings included:
- Amravati: 42.8°C
- Chandrapur: 41.8°C
- Brahmapuri: 41.7°C
- Buldana: 41.0°C
- Gadchiroli: 40.0°C
- Bhandara and Gondia saw some respite, with Gondia recording a relatively lower maximum of 38.0°C, although it witnessed 15.8 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Despite the high temperatures, most parts of Vidarbha remained dry, with no rainfall recorded except in Gondia and Bhandara.
Officials have advised residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated to cope with the prevailing heatwave-like conditions.
