Kashish Bhagat, a student of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium High School and Junior College, Wanadongri (Nagpur), has been selected for the athletics competition at the upcoming Khelo India School Games. The event, organised by the School Games Federation of India, will take place from May 12 to 14 at Patliputra Stadium in Patna, Bihar.
Kashish was selected for the competition based on her exceptional performance at the National School Games held in Lucknow in December 2024, where she won a gold medal in the 4x400m relay (under-17 girls) and placed fourth in the 400m race.
She has been training under the guidance of the school’s sports teacher, Ramchandra Wani. The school’s principal, Dharmendra Parshivnikar, expressed pride over her selection. Vice-principal Deepali Kothe, along with Nagpur District Athletics Association secretary Dr. Sharad Suryavanshi and others, congratulated Kashish and wished her the best of luck for the upcoming event.
Kashish recently clinched the gold medal in the 400m race (under-18 girls) at the Indian Open Athletics Championships held in Trivandrum, Kerala. She also won a silver medal in the 400m race and a bronze in the medley relay at the 39th National Junior Group Competition in Bhubaneswar earlier this year. Previously, she had secured the runner-up position in the 600m race for two consecutive years in the Inter-District National Junior Group competition under the under-16 girls’ category.
