Noted thief, involved in more than 100 house-breaking cases, who was known as Spiderman in Vidarbha region, was arrested from his native village. Ram alias Spiderman Dinesh Madavi (35), a resident of Salai village in Kondhali in Nagpur District, had a criminal record as an expert in house breaking and committing thefts. Police recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery from a goldsmith who had purchased them from the Spiderman. The jewellery includes 45 gms of gold, 475 gms of silver ornaments, and a moped used while carrying out thefts. The material recovered is valued at Rs 5.12 lakh, including jewellery worth Rs 3.85 lakh.
He admitted to cases two registered at Benoda Police Station, and one each at Warod and Shendurjana Ghat police stations. He also admitted that he committed house breaking with his associate Shrawan Kalmare of Salai village in Aloda, Loni, Linga and Pipalgad villages, and sold the jewellery to a goldsmith in Dabha village in Nagpur district.
Earlier, he was arrested in February last year. He had admitted to five thefts he had committed.
On April 30, he committed theft at Vimlabai Kodaskar’s residence in Aloda village, and stole 34 gms of gold jewellery and Rs 35,000 cash. Ram Madavi was arrested at his brother-in-law’s residence.
