As excitement builds for the inaugural edition of the Vidarbha Pro T20 League (VPTL), three of the region’s top women cricketers — Disha Kasat, Mona Meshram, and Bharti Fulmali — have been named captains of the women’s teams participating in the franchise-based tournament, set to begin on June 5 at the VCA Stadium, Jamtha.
The women’s leg of the VPTL will run parallel to the men’s competition, showcasing emerging and seasoned talent in a league format. The teams — Orange Tigresses, Nagpur Titans, and Neco Master Blaster — are owned by the same franchises as their male counterparts and will feature a total of 48 players across three squads.
Team Leadership:
- Orange Tigresses (Abhijit Realtors & Infraventures Pvt. Ltd) will be led by experienced top-order batter Disha Kasat, with Komal Zanzad as vice-captain and Riddhima Maradwar as one of the wicketkeepers.
- Nagpur Titans, backed by the Sanvijay Group, will see Mona Meshram, a former India international, don the captain’s hat. Ayushi Thakre is the designated vice-captain.
- Neco Master Blaster, representing the Neco Group, will be captained by all-rounder Bharti Fulmali, with Riddhi Naik as vice-captain and Nihari Kawale among the wicketkeeping options.
The tournament aims to provide a professional platform for local talent and promote women’s cricket in the region. All matches will be played at a single venue to ensure consistent playing conditions and centralized logistics.
