The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be held from September 30 to November 2, 2025, with matches hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka. This will be the first time in more than a decade that the 50-over tournament returns to the subcontinent.
Eight teams—India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan—will battle it out in a round-robin format. The tournament will feature 28 league matches across five iconic venues: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Fans can look forward to thrilling cricket action as the best women’s teams compete for the world title.
The tournament will begin with host team India playing in Bengaluru. This is the first time since 2013 that India is hosting the Women’s Cricket World Cup. The last big women’s cricket event in India was the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2016, which was held along with the men’s tournament.
The knockout stage of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will start on October 29. The first semi-final will take place in either Guwahati or Colombo, and the second semi-final is set for October 30 in Bengaluru. The big final will be held on Sunday, November 2, either in Bengaluru or Colombo.
However, these venues might change depending on whether Pakistan qualifies for the semi-final or final. If Pakistan makes it to either stage, then Colombo will host the match, as per the tournament’s planning rules.
To help teams get ready, there will be at least a two-day gap between the semi-finals and the final.
Australia will come into the tournament as the defending champions. They won their seventh title in 2022 by defeating England in the final held in New Zealand.
