Another case of reckless speeding turned deadly on Nagpur’s Wardha Road. A 25-year-old man lost his life when a BMW car crashed into his two-wheeler late Saturday night (June 8) near the Beltarodi Police Station area. The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the collision.
The victim, Yogesh Bopche (25), was returning after delivering a tiffin to a relative at AIIMS hospital. Around 3:15 am near Chinchbhavan, the speeding BMW (HP-89/A 1592) hit their motorcycle from behind with great force, throwing both Yogesh and his relative far onto the road.
After the collision, the BMW driver fled the scene. Eyewitnesses said both victims were rushed to AIIMS hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared Yogesh dead on arrival, while his relative remains in serious condition.
Beltarodi police have registered a case against the unknown driver and started an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the accused, and a search operation is ongoing.
Is Wardha Road Turning Into a ‘Highway of Death’?
The growing number of accidents on Wardha Road shows no sign of slowing down. Frequent fatal crashes have raised serious concerns about traffic safety in Nagpur. Many have complained about the lack of police presence and weak enforcement of speed limits in the area.
Whether the fleeing driver will be caught quickly or if this case, like many before, will fade away in official records remains to be seen.
