In a span of just a few hours on Sunday, June 8 night, two unrelated murder cases unfolded in Nagpur city, leaving residents in shock. A ragpicker was beaten to death with a stone in the busy Agrasen Square under Tehsil Police limits, while a 24-year-old youth was fatally stabbed over a money dispute in the Kotwali area. Both victims were declared dead at Mayo Hospital, and Nagpur Police acted swiftly in apprehending the suspects.
Ragpicker Fatally Attacked with Stone in Agrasen Square:
At around 9:45 pm on June 8, a ragpicker, identified only as Anna alias Shailesh (aged approximately 40–45), was brutally assaulted with a stone in front of Punjab Hardware and Sanitary Stores, Agrasen Square.
The accused, Anurag alias Ghoda Sunil Borkar (33), a resident of Shantinagar, allegedly attacked the victim over an unknown personal dispute. He repeatedly struck the man on the chest and head, leaving him severely injured.
Bystanders rushed the victim to Mayo Hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors. Based on a complaint from Rakesh Sridhar Sabal (45), Tehsil Police registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). PSI Sirsat led the swift operation to apprehend the accused. Further investigation is underway.
₹8,000 Loan Dispute Turns Deadly, Youth Stabbed to Death:
Just hours later, at around 11:00 pm, a separate murder was reported near Lakadganj Bus Stop, behind Royal Electricals, under Kotwali Police Station limits.
Rahul Mohan Pande (24), a resident of Bhuteshwar Nagar, was allegedly stabbed by Rohit alias Mari Namdev Chandekar (29) following a dispute over an ₹8,000 loan that Rahul had given to the accused. Rohit had called Rahul to the spot under the pretext of returning the money.
Rahul arrived with his friends, only to find Rohit accompanied by Vicky Namdev Chandekar (33) and Niraj Larokar, all from the same locality. An argument broke out, during which the trio allegedly attacked Rahul and his friends. Rohit then stabbed Rahul, inflicting critical injuries.
Despite being rushed to Mayo Hospital, Rahul was declared dead by doctors. Acting on a complaint by his mother, Sunita Mohan Pande (49), Kotwali Police registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of BNS. PSI Gavit led the investigation, and two of the three accused have been apprehended so far.
