In an effort to improve passenger convenience and minimize delays, Indian Railways continues to promote the use of the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), an online platform that provides real-time information on train schedules, delays, cancellations, and route changes.
Apart from the 139 railway helpline, the NTES service is available as both a website and a mobile application. The NTES app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and has become a reliable travel companion for millions of railway passengers across the country.
Currently, maintenance and infrastructure development work is underway across several railway zones, including the South Eastern Railway. As a result, some trains are starting late even from their originating stations. Officials from South East Central Railway have assured that continuous monitoring is being carried out to ensure trains run as per schedule and operational efficiency is maintained.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check their train’s real-time status through the NTES app or website before heading to the station. This, they say, will help avoid inconvenience and long waits on platforms. While Indian Railways also sends SMS updates to registered mobile numbers, regular announcements are made through the public announcement systems at stations.
Officials added that the NTES platform significantly enhances travel planning, ensuring journeys are more convenient, timely, and accurate for passengers nationwide.
