Hudkeshwar Police have successfully arrested Deepak Bansod, a 40-year-old serial offender known by multiple aliases including “Bajrang” and “Bhajan,” in connection with a recent burglary case in Bahadura Fata. He has been involved in 68 similar cases across Nagpur and Wardha district.
The arrest, made on June 7, 2025, came after investigators meticulously analyzed CCTV footage that captured the suspect surveying the area on a black Splendor motorcycle prior to the theft. During interrogation, Bansod confessed to stealing gold jewelry and cash worth ₹2.5 lakh from a residence on May 25, 2025, when the family was away attending a function.
The investigation took a significant turn when police recovered not only the stolen gold but also five different motorcycles that Bansod had allegedly stolen from various locations across the city. Police records reveal Bansod’s extensive criminal history, with involvement in 68 cases spanning Nagpur city, Nagpur rural, and Wardha district. His criminal portfolio includes the high-profile 2017 theft at Dragon Palace Buddhist Temple in Kamptee, for which he was previously arrested in 2018. Authorities also confirmed Bansod has three prior convictions for theft-related offenses.
The breakthrough operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindrakumar Singal, with Deputy Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy and Additional CP (South) Dr. Shivaji Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao and ACP Narendra Hiware overseeing the investigation.
The police team, comprising officers from Hudkeshwar Police Station led by Pi Dynaneshwar Bhedodkar, used a combination of technological evidence and human intelligence to track down the elusive criminal. Bansod has been remanded to police custody for further questioning, where investigators hope to uncover his potential involvement in other unsolved cases and identify his network of accomplices.
