In the current financial year, the government has set a target of running 30 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. The first train will start running on the tracks by the end of next month i.e. July. According to railway officials, the speed trial of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been completed. The Railway Board is deciding the route and fare of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train.
30 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will run
It is being speculated that next month, Prime Minister Modi is going to flag off this train. According to the Railways, a total of 30 Vande Bharat sleeper trains can be operated in the financial year 2025-26. The government-owned company BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited), based in Bengaluru, has prepared 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trains. After getting approval to run the first train, the rest of the trains will also be gradually put on the tracks.
Officials say that 8 to 10 Vande Bharat trains are also being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The coaches of these trains are being prepared jointly by BEML and ICF.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train is designed to run at speeds of 160 to 240 kmph. Currently, trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat (chair car) are running at a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
