Nagpur: The Bharosa Cell of Nagpur Police, a key initiative for resolving family and domestic disputes, has successfully resolved 98% of the cases it has received since its inception in 2017. Of these, nearly 40% of couples reconciled and resumed living together after counselling.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Bharosa Cell’s new building on Katol Road, Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal highlighted the Cell’s pivotal role in preventing domestic disputes from escalating into criminal matters. “The team’s consistent efforts in preserving families are commendable. The new facility, built on authorized police land, will soon feature a play area for children as well,” he announced.
New Location Improves Access
Joint Commissioner of Police Ravinchandra Reddy recalled that the Cell had previously operated from a rented space in Subhash Nagar. “We had considered launching additional cells across the city, but due to limited manpower, it wasn’t feasible. The new centrally located building now solves the accessibility issue,” he said.
Counselling Over Courtrooms
Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi shared that the Bharosa Cell has helped many families avoid prolonged court battles through professional counselling. “Even the rainfall during the event felt like nature’s way of blessing this positive initiative,” Pardeshi remarked.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DCPs Lohit Matani, Rahul Makhnikar, Shweta Khedkar, Ashwini Patil, and other senior officers of Nagpur Police.
