The Maharashtra Government has ordered the completion of a fire audit of all the malls in the state within 90 days. The power and water connection will be cut in case of failure to fulfill the norms set by the Fire Brigade, said Industries Minister Uday Samant.
Samat was replying to the issue raised by Krupal Tumane in the Legislative Council on Thursday.
The State Government has warned of stern action, following frequent fires at Link Square Mall and Dream Mall in Mumbai.
Samant said the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has already started action relating to fire safety. Dream Mall is presently closed. All the municipalities in B, C, and D categories have been directed to conduct the fire audit, and if required, action may be initiated as per the provisions of the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2006.
