In a major crackdown against human trafficking, the Social Security Branch of the Crime Branch, Nagpur Police, conducted a raid at Hotel Paradise located on CA Road under the jurisdiction of Tehsil Police Station. The operation, carried out between 5:30 PM on July 2 and 1:55 AM on July 3, led to the rescue of a foreign national — a woman of Russian origin — who was allegedly being forced into prostitution.
Based on reliable information, the police registered a case under Sections 143(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), 1956. The case has been filed as FIR No. 449/2025 at Tehsil Police Station, Nagpur City. The raid was conducted in Room No. 403 on the fourth floor of the hotel.
During the action, one accused, identified as Rashmi Anand Khatri (49), a resident of Plot No. 65, Govindgad, near Shanti Niketan College, Uppalwadi, Kamptee Road, Nagpur, was apprehended. Another accused, Krishnakumar alias Radhe Deshraj, has been named in the case and is currently absconding.
The police seized incriminating material from the location, which included one DVR worth ₹3,000, a packet of condoms worth ₹10, cash amounting to ₹5,500, two mobile phones (a Realme and a Narzo) valued at ₹15,000 each, and a register book worth ₹500. The total value of seized materials amounts to ₹39,010.
Following the rescue, the Russian woman was medically examined and later handed over to Tehsil Police along with all related documents and seized property for further investigation. The arrested woman was served a notice and released as per legal procedure.
The operation was executed under the supervision of PI Gajanan Gulhane with the assistance of HC Kishor Thakare, NPC Sheshrao Raut, PCs Kunal Masram, Sameer Sheikh, Kunal Bodkhe, Nitin, and WPC Poonam Shende. Police are now intensifying efforts to trace the absconding accused and uncover the larger network involved in the trafficking racket.
