A young woman working as a cabin crew member for a well-known airline had to leave her job after being continuously harassed and threatened by a married man. According to a media report, the man, Veersingh Amarsingh Verma from Dhammadeep Nagar, has now been booked by Kalamna police.
According to police, the woman met Veersingh in 2019 through a common friend. He sent her a Facebook friend request, which she accepted after a neighbour’s suggestion. They chatted for some time, but even after getting married in 2021, Veersingh kept forcing her to stay in contact and meet him.
When she tried to distance herself, he allegedly threatened to spread false stories about her to her family and future husband.
The harassment became worse in August 2024, when Veersingh tried to force her into a relationship. In September, the woman shifted to Telangana for work, but he reportedly followed her there and continued to threaten her.
Feeling unsafe and mentally disturbed, the woman came back to Nagpur and left her job two weeks ago. After sharing everything with her family, they tried to speak to Veersingh, but he wasn’t home. Soon after, he called the woman and allegedly abused her and her family on the phone.
She then went to Kalamna police station and filed a complaint. A case has been registered and further investigation is going on.
