Torrential rains continued to lash Nagpur on Wednesday, throwing life out of gear across the city and surrounding areas. In view of the worsening situation, Nagpur District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and private institutions on July 9.
Multiple areas in both urban and rural parts of the district have reported severe waterlogging, leading to major disruptions in daily life. In some parts, bridges have reportedly collapsed, cutting off road access and leaving people stranded. Local authorities, along with disaster response teams, have launched rescue operations to reach those trapped due to rising water levels.
The district administration has issued an urgent advisory, requesting citizens to remain indoors and step out only if absolutely necessary. Efforts are ongoing to clear waterlogged roads and restore essential services.
“The safety of citizens is our utmost priority,” said officials from the Collector’s office, adding that emergency services are on high alert to deal with any eventuality.
With more rainfall forecast in the coming days, the administration is monitoring the situation closely and has urged residents to follow official updates and advisories.
