The Vainganga River has crossed the danger mark in Bhandara district, following heavy rains since Saturday. The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rains in the East Vidarbha region during the next 24 hours.
Life in the district has come to a halt as water gushed through low-lying areas in rural and urban areas. Forty-three routes have been closed due to water flowing over roads and bridges. Some houses in the rural areas were damaged, but the exact details, however, were not available.
The district administration has appealed to the people to be careful and has put the official machinery on high alert.
