The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Nagpur and four other districts in eastern Vidarbha, warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. The ongoing weather system, which has already affected Maharashtra for over a week, is likely to continue for the next four days across several regions including Vidarbha, Marathwada, North and Central Maharashtra, the Ghats, and the Konkan coast.
While rainfall has eased slightly in Mumbai, Konkan, and Pune, Vidarbha remains under the grip of continuous downpours. In the past three days, heavy rains have disrupted normal life in many parts of the region.
Orange Alert for 5 Vidarbha Districts; Moderate Rain Likely in Others
The IMD’s regional center has issued an Orange Alert for Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, warning of intense to extremely heavy rainfall today. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has been issued for other Vidarbha districts — Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati, and Wardha — indicating the possibility of moderate rain.
Marathwada, Central Maharashtra on Alert for Rain and Thunderstorms
The IMD has issued Yellow Alerts for Jalna and Parbhani districts in the Marathwada region, forecasting heavy rain. Other districts including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Dharashiv, Nanded, Latur, Hingoli, Solapur, Jalgaon, and Dhule are likely to witness isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, wind speeds of 30-40 km/h, and localized heavy showers.
Heavy Rain Likely in Western Ghats; IMD Issues Advisory for Farmers and Citizens
Parts of the Western Ghats in Central Maharashtra are expected to receive isolated heavy showers over the coming days, according to the IMD.
Advisory Issued Amid Ongoing Rainfall
With the monsoon expected to remain active for the next four days, authorities have advised farmers and residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions. The IMD has urged citizens to regularly check weather updates and plan their daily routines accordingly.
Nagpur and the broader Vidarbha region continue to be the center of concern as Maharashtra faces an extended spell of intense monsoon rainfall.
