MSLTA-NDHTA Yonex Sunrise All India Ranking Championship Series for Boys & Girls Under-16 concluded on a high note Sunday afternoon.
The top seeds had to work hard to maintain their status and so Seed 1 Soham Jane beat Samvid Andhare in a spirited semifinal encounter 9-3.
In the other semifinal seed 2 Rahul Ravi had to face stiff competition from seed 4 Anand Marathe and the match went to 9-7.
In the finals seed 1 Soham Jane began well but seed 2 Rahul Ravi raised his game to take an early lead and won the first set 6-3. In the second set Soham felt the pressure and allowed his opponent Rahul to get the advantage. Both players displayed amazing tennis and got applauses from the audience. It was to be Rahul Ravi’s day and he took
the second set 6-1 with relentless power play.
Chief Guest for the prize distribution function Shri Ashok Bhiwapurkar asked the players to improve their fitness and build their muscle in order to pack more power in their game. He complimented the winners and encouraged the ones who lost the U-16 tournament. All four players
in the finals were invited by Tournament Secretary Vijay Naidu to speak on the occasion. They were all praise for the arrangements and their opponents. Tournament Secretary Vijay Naidu gave the vote of thanks and informed that the Lawn Tennis tournament under the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav will start on the 19th January and will be played at MSLTA Ramnagar, CP
Club and Gondwana Club courts.
