As many as 105 contractual employees working at Nagpur railway station lost their jobs all of a sudden. They used to who fill water in the train coaches. The new contractor appointed by the railways for the same job axed all of them from their service. The decision has left the employees jobless. On Wednesday the employees demonstrated before the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office. The DRM assured to resolve the issue.
It is pertinent to note that more 125 trains halt at the Nagpur railway station. The Nagpur division has appointed a contractor for filling water in the coaches. A year ago, the contractor appointed the 105 employees on Rs 13500 remuneration, PF and ESIC facilities. Recently the Nagpur division issued new tender and appointed new contractor.
The employees alleged that the new contractor was not giving minimum wages and also refused to give PF and ESIC facilities.
