Justice Nitin Sambre, the administrative judge of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court, has been transferred to the Delhi High Court. The Union Ministry of Law and Justice issued an official notification confirming the transfer on Monday.
The move follows the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26, 2025, which has now been approved by the Central Government.
A native of Nagpur, Justice Sambre was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on January 6, 2014, and was made permanent on March 2, 2016. He initially served at the principal seat in Mumbai before being transferred to the Nagpur Bench in December 2023.
Before his elevation to the bench, he served as the Principal Government Pleader at the Nagpur Bench from September 1, 2007. He also held the post of Secretary of the High Court Bar Association, Nagpur, from 2004 to 2007.
Justice Sambre began his legal career under the mentorship of former Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde, who was then a senior advocate.
