Opening batsman Nitin Patariya’s explosive century helped last year’s runners-up Lokmat to drub Punyanagari by a huge margin of 189 runs on the second day of Inter-Press Cricket Tournament being organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur in association with OCW and State Bank of India at Vasant Nagar ground, here on Friday.
Lokmat won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled up a massive total of 269 for 5 in 20 overs. Thanks to Patariya, who slammed 108 in just 42 balls hitting 11 sixes and four boundaries. Sharad Mishra (73, 29b, 3×6, 8×4) was another batsman, who sent the rival bowlers on a leather hunt. Nitin Shriwas (38, 14b, 2×6, 4×4), Pravin Lokhande (22) and skipper Amit Khodke (17) were other scorers.
For Punyaanagari, Shridhhar Hatagade and Shrikant Bandre claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Punyanagari lost their wickets at regular interval and were bundled out for a paltry 79. Only left-handed Pankaj Pande (41) managed to cross the double figures. For Lokmat, Sachin Rahangdale and Pramod Ingole took two wickets each.
Former Vidarbha cricketer and VCAÂ secretary Ashok Bhagwat and Sunil Mujumdar of Mujumdar Cricket Academy gave away Gangadharo Chinchole memorial man-of-the-match trophy and cash prize to Nitin Patariya.
