New team of DBA installed
Judiciary is one of the four pillars of democracy. Efforts should be made to expedite the pending cases with the use of information technology, said Union Minister for Road and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari.
He was delivering the presidential address at the installation ceremony of newly-elected members of District Bar Association (DBA) at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in the city. Justice S B Shukre of Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court was the chief guest while former Justice of Supreme Court Vikas Shirpurkar, Justice Rohit Deo of Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, newly-elected President of DBA Adv Kamal Satuja and General Secretary Nitin Deshmukh were seated on the dais.
Speaking further Gadkari said, he himself is a law graduate and has very friendly relations with DBA, Nagpur. The Nagpur DBA has a glorious history of former Chief Justice Hidaytulla, Justice Bobde among others, Gadkari mentioned. Legislative, judiciary, executive and media are the four pillars of the democracy where judiciary has an important role to play, Gadkari said.
Justice Shukre in his speech emphasized on digitization in judiciary. The work from filing petitions, getting dates and other procedures are carried out through digitization in a  number of countries in middle Asia, he informed. There are E courts in India and along with judges and the petitioners, contribution of lawyers is equally important for their successful operation, Justice Shukre said.
A large number of former office-bearers of DBA, officials of court and employees were present at the programme.
