The locality has a number of visitors like students and travelers. However, these people have to buy water from small kiosks. The water ATM will solve this problem where people will get pure drinking water at affordable rates, Khopde said. Such ATMs should be set up in maximum localities of the city giving priority to the poor and labourers, Khopde said.
Giving information about the ATM, Kukde said on inserting 1 rupee coin, the ATM will deliver a glass of water. Similarly, two litres of water for Rs 2, 10 litres of water for Rs 10 and 20 litres of water for Rs 20 will be provided through the ATM. This will stop the malpractices by a number of companies, who cheat people promising pure drinking water.
