Star players of the Vidarbha  cricket team which won this year’s Ranji trophy,  Aditya Sarvate, Akshay Wadkar, Rajneesh Gurbani, Sanjay Ramaswamy, Lalit Yadav and Shrikant Wagh, who are also the employees of AG’s office, Nagpur were felicitated by Dinesh Patil, Accountant General (A&E) and Ms Hema Munivenkatappa, Accountant General (Audit) at Vidarbha Cricket Association ground at Jamtha.
Chandrakant Pandit, former India player and coach of Vidarbha Ranji team under whose guidance the team achieved this feat in consecutive years was also felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Patil, said he was proud of the fact that half of the   Vidarbha team had employees from AG’s office. The Accountant General expressed the hope that the day was not far when some of the members of AG’s office would represent the country. Chandrakant Pandit appreciated the role of AG’s office in encouraging cricket and other sports by providing job security and confidence to the players. He exhorted the players to achieve excellence not only in sports, but also in their official duties.
Abhijit Piprode of AG (Audit) who is the match in-charge of Irani trophy match between Vidarbha Ranji Team and Rest of India at VCA, Nagpur was also felicitated on the occasion.
Present on the occasion from A.G (A&E) office were Beju Joseph, DAG (Admn), Ridham Bhadja, DAG (Accounts), Ashok Chanore, Welfare Officer and  office-bearers of Recreation Club,  P N Challirwar and Vidya Patwardhan.  G K.
