The 21st Convocation ceremony of Government Polytechnic, Nagpur, (GP) will be held on February 14 at 11 am in the institute premises where 715 students will be conferred diplomas. Ulhas P Debadwar, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Nagpur will be the chief guest.
Joint Director, Technical Education, Regional Office, Nagpur and Chairman, Governing Board of the institute Gulabrao Thakare will preside over the function.
The gold & silver medals as well as sponsored awards to the students securing first & second ranks in various engineering diploma programmes will be distributed at the hands of chief guest. Total 29 sponsored awards are instituted by academicians, industry persons and professionals for the meritorious students.
The institute has also started awarding cash prizes to toppers from last eight years.
Dhananjay Pramodrao Hiwase a topper from all the engineering disciplines of the institute securing 96.75% marks will receive highest sponsored awards (07) and a gold medal during the convocation. He belongs to Mechanical Engineering branch. Neelam Manohar Kapse and Sheikh Salman Sheikh Karim from Civil Engineering branch are the second toppers and will receive a silver medal an 4 prizes each, informed Dr Chandrashekhar Thorat, Principal GP Nagpur.
