Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) took a stern action against the consumers, who have not paid their bills. MSEDCL snapped the power supply of 11,240 consumers in Vidarbha region, says a press release.
As per the information available around 1,76,979 commercial and industrial customer have not paid their bills amounting to Rs. 70.31 crores in last two months.
The company has warned to snap the power supply of the customers who have not even paid the half amount of the bill. Due to the strong warning from the company, some of the customers have cleared their outstanding bills, which resulted in inflow of Rs. 16.28 crores in MSEDCL’s account, the press release said.
MSEDCL has snapped the power connection of 7004 customers, as they failed to pay even the half amount of the pending bills on temporary basis, whereas 4236 customers’ connections have been permanently snapped.
As per the orders from the head office, local officers are preparing a list of defaulter consumers who owe more than Rs.5000 in commercial and Rs. 1000 in household category.
The details of the bills are send on the SMS of the consumers’ registered mobile numbers besides sending emails, as a part of Go –Green concept to reduce the usage of paper, and the consumers opting for the same will get a concession of Rs.10 per bill.
