The second edition of the Nagpur Film Festival will get underway on Saturday at Dhanwate Auditorium, Shankar Nagar. The two day festival has been organised under ‘Idea of India’ initiative.
On the opening day six documentaries – Gubbare, Apni Dhun me Kabutari, I am Nageshwarrao Star (English), Lynch Nation. Fisher Women, Tuktuk and Nach Bikhari will be shown from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
In the second session legendary filmmaker Mrunal Sen’s creation Khandahar will be shown to the audience from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
In the third and final session of first day, Punjabi filmmaker Randeep’s movie Landless will be shown, followed by an interactive session with the director.
On the second and concluding day, Deepa Dhanraj’s movie based on caste discrimination – We have not come here to die- will be shown from 10 am to 1 pm. Noted theatre personality Shailesh Narwade will deliver a talk highlighting various aspects of the movie.
In the second session Dinkar Bedekar will recite noted writer Premchand’s Shatranj ke Khiladi from 2 pm to 4 pm. In the third session Bollywood classic Shatranj Ke Khiladi based on Premchand’s story will be shown. The story was written nearly 90 years ago while the film too has completed 50 years of release. Manoj Rupada will highlight several aspects of the movie.
The festival has been organised under the aegis of Maharashtra Rajbhasha Sabha, Meraki Theatre and Rashtrabhasha Parivar.
