‘Quantity makes learning enjoyable and character is related with updating the quality of the students’, said Dr. Devender Kawdey, a special guest and Deputy Advisor, NAAC, Bengaluru. He was addressing the inaugural function of two day NAAC sponsored National Seminar on New NAAC Parameters for Accreditation and Assessment of Colleges: Challenges and Strategies-2019 hosted by Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur on March 2 and 3rd. Dr. Kawdey elaborated the significance of philosophical concepts like faith which is very important and the basic ingredient and requirement to lead a positive and meaningful life.
Chief Guest Dr. R. S. Mali (Ex Vice-Chancellor-North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon) in his keynote address talked about NAAC Assessment procedure and how ranking of institutions is done. He laid stress on innovative methods of teaching and learning with special emphasis on maintaining the quality of higher educational institutions.
‘Parameters of NAAC are transparent and easily approachable. Colleges are required to be proactive in their day to day maintenance of records to make it easier for the institutions as well as NAAC’, he emphasized. He talked at length about qualitative and quantitative metrics in the NAAC Assessment Policy curricular aspects, innovative and creative ways of teaching. He gave a detailed presentation on new NAAC Guidelines giving emphasis on research in universities as an important factor.
Vice-Chancellor, Solapur University, Solapur Dr. Mrunalini Fadnavis, was the President of the inaugural function. She spoke about gender equity and need of incubation centres and innovations in teaching and learning. Research in colleges and universities was also emphasized upon by her.
Ravi Patil (Officiating Principal) presented a brief report and assessment of the college. Dr. Hema Menon (Convenor of the Seminar) gave introductory remarks. The guests were welcomed by presenting saplings during the formal inauguration of the seminar.
The dais was graced with President of P. P. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Deekshabhoomi, Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Shurei Sasai,. The dignitaries were accompanied by Member of P. P. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Deekshabhoomi, Vilasji Gajghate, Â Dr. Arvind P. Joshi (Vice Principal-Sports), Dr. Pratibha Siriya, Dr. Shailesh Bahadure (Organising Secretary) and Dr. Deovrat Begde (Joint Secretary of the Seminar).
The inaugural function was followed by two technical sessions:
- Dr. Ashok Thorat, Founder Director, Institute of Advanced Studies in English, Pune-Research Collaborations, Innovations and Linkages
- Dr. R. S. Mali, former Vice-Chancellor-North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon- New AQAR and HEIs.
The sessions were chaired by Dr. Deovrat Begde and Dr. Deepa Panhekar respectively. Rita Lakkakul and Anita Tirpude facilitated the session.
The programme was successfully conducted by Priti Singh. More than 150 delegates from different HEIs from different states were present on this occasion.
