Nationalist Students Congress, NSUI workers court arrest protesting NU programme

Accusing the programme organised by Rrashtrasant Nagpur University (NU) and Education Forum as political campaign of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),  activists of Nationalist Students Congress and NSUI staged protest and courted arrest on Saturday.

The programme ‘International conference on redefining environmental governance for smart city’ was organised at Gurunanak Bhavan, off Amravati Road in the city where activists of Nationalist Students Congress and NSUI staged protest tying black ribbons on their mouth.

Ambazari police arrested the protesters including Shailendra Tiwari Ajit Singh, Ravi Parate, Rudra Dhakde along with a number of activists.

Tiwari alleged that Vice-Chancellor had misused the students’ money for campaigning for the BJP. The programme organised by Hindi department had nothing to do with Hindi literature, he further alleged, He said, the university was an educational institute and they will not allow it to become an office of a political party. The Vice-Chancellor campaigning for BJP should immediately step down, the agitating workers demanded and also flayed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Nationalist Students Congress leaders Sarwar Ansari, Rajat Atkare, Shubham Chandankhede, Neeraj Tawani and Shubham Bokde, from NSUI Ashish Mandpe, Pranay Singh Thakur, Muzzmail Hussain, Chetan Meshram and others participated in the agitation.
