Sandesh Durugwar’s century and Sumit Ruikar’s all-round performance helped Reshimbagh Gymkhana to drub Modern Cricket Academy by huge margin of 115 runs in the semi-final of Guzder League ‘B’ Division Cricket Tournament organised by Vidarbha Cricket Association at Citi Gymkhana ground, here on Saturday.
Batting first, Reshimbagh Gymkhana scored a good total of 287 all out in 50 overs. They had a poor start and were struggling on 23 for four at one stage. But then middle order batsman Durugwar and Sumit Ruikar brought them out of wood by making 147 run partnership for the fifth wicket.
In the process, Durugwar completed his century. His 108 run knock in 117 balls was studded with eight boundaries and one six. Ruikar ably supported him and scored 71 in 86 balls hitting one six and four boundaries. Significant contribution also came from Prajwal Ghodke (32) and Nachiket Bhute (33).
For Modern, Karan Adwani claimed five wickets conceding 43 runs. Chandrashekhar Mandloi and Jitendra Giri got two each.
In reply, Modern lost their wickets at regular interval and were bowled out for 172 in 40.1 overs. Faizan Ahmed (28), Mohammad Asif (23), Akshay Arsade (19) and Abhishek Gangwar (18) got the starts but failed to capitalised on it. For Reshimbagh, Praful Hinge, Sumit Ruikar, Aditya Khilote and Sandesh Durugwar snared two wickets each.
