Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) has written to Ram Nath Kovind – President, Justice Ranjan Gogoi – Chief Justice of India and Sunil Arora – Chief Election Commisioner to intervene and stop open bribery to voters before elections by many Political Parties who are offering considerable amount to citizens in the name of annual contribution by passing appropriate orders.
P. Sharma – President of VTA said, economic condition of our Country including our External Debt of Rs. 82 Lakh Crore is well known to all and such External Debt is rising sharply every year. Under such circumstances, it pains terribly when few political parties offer considerable amount to poor families in the name of annual contribution rather than providing them with employment opportunities.
Shrawankumar Malu – Vice President VTA said, already shortage of labour is being experienced by industry houses practically all over the country and such annual cpntribution will make our citizens and youths more lethargic which will also spoil coming generation thereby leading to a position of no return.
Tejinder Singh Renu – Secretary VTA said, it is absolutely outrageous that one political party offers Rs. 6000 annually to small farmers comprising approximately 12 Crore in number; then another party offers Rs. 72,000 annually to 5 Crore families, so now the next political party in line will surely offer more to attract voters. With latest offer of Rs.72,000 annually to 5 Crore families, the extra burden on exchequer will be of Rs. 3,60,000 Crore which is equivalent to annual Defence Budget of India. It is difficult to analyse how come such politicians derive over such conculsion without assessing its long term impact on the country.
VTA strongly objects to such trend, wherein political parties offer annual contribution to citizens from taxpayers’ money before elections, which undoubtedly means that this is open bribery to woo voters. Such tendency will take our country to situation of no returning. Taxpayers are extremely worried of such negative development as the same will cost our country dearly in time to come.
VTA requests President, Chief Justice of India and Chief Election Commissioner to pass suitable orders to stop such open bribery by political parties. And if at all such political parties are much concerned about such families, please contribute such amount from their own political funds rather than from taxpayers’ money.
