The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has put on hold affiliation of 152 colleges, hence barring them from taking fresh admissions for the academic year 2019-20. Sources said the varsity management has slapped notice to the management of all these institutions asking them to remove the irregularities pointed out the local evaluation committee in its report.
The colleges have been asked to submit a report of corrective measures taken by them. After going through the report submitted by the colleges, RTMNU would decide to extend its affiliation or revoke it fully.
As many as 300 colleges had applied for affiliation of which 148 fit into RTMNU criteria while others had some negative points, which needed to be rectified. It is pertinent to note here that 531 colleges are affiliated with the RTMNU. In the previous academic year the RTMNU had barred 57 colleges from taking fresh admissions.
