Rohit Jha and Shreya Kirmore emerged champions in the men’s and women’s categories respectively in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar daud organised by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Daud Committee in association with Nagpur District Athletics Association on Sunday.
The race started at Sanvidhan chowk. In men’s six-kilometre race Rohit Jha clocked 18. 40 seconds to emerge winner. He was followed by Devendra Rane of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal for second spot whereas Vishal Bisen of Hingna finished third.
In the women’s section, Shreya Kirmore achieved the six-kilometre distance in 24.40 seconds and she was followed by Astha Nimbarte of Vidyarthi Yuvak Krida Mandal for second spot. Apoorva Nagulwar of Track Star Athletics Club achieved third place.
The prize distribution function was organised at Deekshabhoomi. Director of St. Paul Public School Rajabhau Tanskale, Ajit Gadpayle of Doordarshan ditributed the prizes to first ten winners in each category. NDAA secretary Dr Sharad Suryavanshi, Gurudeo Nagrale, Avinash Sahare, Anil Bhore, Sipin Singh, Ramchandra Wani and others were also present on the occasion.
