In terms of the National Institution Rating Framework (NIRF) declaration for the year 2019, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), Sawangi Meghe, Wardha has been overall ranked 92nd in the group of Educational Institutions in the Country. This by itself is a matter of great pride for all concerned that in its maiden attempt the University has been included in the elite group of top 100 Ranking Educational Institutions in the country for the year 2019.
Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), was notified as Deemed University by the Ministry of Human Resources Development on the recommendations of University Grants Commission by a notification dated 25th May, 2005 with Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, and Sharad Pawar Dental College, Sawangi Meghe, Wardha under its ambit. Within two year of its existence led by its First Vice Chancellor Dr. Vedprakash Mishra
the University sought accreditation by NAAC in the year 2007 and the University was accredited with ‘A’ Grade, which by itself was a unique record of its type.
In the year 2009 the Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial College of Nursing and Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College and Research Centre, Sawangi Meghe, Wardha were brought under the ambit of the Deemed University. In the year 2012 the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, rated the University as ‘A’ Grade Deemed University by a suitable Notification. In the very year (2012) the 2nd cycle of re-accreditation, by NAAC, the Deemed
University was ranked again as ‘A’ Grade University with a score of 3.36 out of 4.
In continuation of the same spree in the year 2017 in the 3rd Cycle of Reaccreditation the University fetched a score of 3.53 out of 4 from the NAAC and resultantly has been graded as an ‘A+’ University for a period of seven years
which would be for a period up to October, 2024. It has also been granted 12 (B) Status by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
The educational institutions with reference to health sciences included in the said elite list of 100 ranked educational institutions by NIRF can be divided into sub-groups namely i) Exclusive health science Universities including Deemed Universities, ii) Universities having health sciences along with other streams of faculty.
The material group relevant to present case would be the group of Universities that are exclusively health sciences Universities including deemed Universitiesfor the purposes of comparison and analysis thereto.

In terms of location of the said Universities in States, three Universities are located in Maharashtra, Three in Tamilnadu, three in Karnataka and one in Uttar Pradesh. Thus, 90% of the health sciences Universities in the elite group of rankings up to 100 are located in three southern states in an equal basis namely Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamilnadu with lone exception of KGMU, Lucknow located in Uttar Pradesh.
Of the 100 ranked Universities, including Deemed Universities, 12 are located in Maharashtra other than Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), are Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, Pune University Pune, Indian Institute of Science Research and Education, Pune, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Homi Bhaba National Institute, Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, D.Y. Patil University Pune, Symbosis University Pune, Narsee Munje Institute, Mumbai, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune and College of Engineering, Pune.
The segregation on the basis of geographic location of the 12 Universities ranked in the elite group in Maharashtra State brings out that 6 Universities are located in Pune, 5 are located in Mumbai and 1 in Wardha, which is a voluminous indication of the tiding over of the geographical handicap by Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences
(Deemed to be University).

Pune has a score of 42.89 (43) and D.Y. Patil University Pune has a score of 45.11 (45), to say that all three are in a very close bracket in terms of the score gained by each one of them.
The credit garnered by the University attributable to the hard work put by the entire dedicated team for actualizing the visionary dream of the Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Dattaji Meghe and led by the Pro-Chancellor Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Borle, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Neelam Mishra with active and continuous co-operation and supervision of Shri Sagarji Meghe Member, Board of Management, Dr. Lalit Waghmare Director IQAC, and all other officials and employees of the Deemed University.
The University ventures for its placement within 50 ranked educational institutions in the country as its target for the year 2020 for which efforts have been planned in a diligent manner.
