Vivaan Saraogi and Maithili Khuje triumphed in the open and girls categories respectively in the Nagpur District U-17 Chess Championship 2019 conducted by Nagpur District Chess Association in association with Dhanwate National College at NDCA Hall, DNC Sports Complex, Congress Nagar.
In the open category, Saraogi secured highest 6.5 points to win the title. He was followed by Suhan Deshpande and Parth Lonkar for the second and third place respectively.
In the last round, Suhan Deshpande held Vivaan Saraogi to a draw on top board. On second board, Parth Lonkar got the better of Khush Wairagade whereas Sumedh Ramteke and Devang Patel settled to a draw.
In the girls section, Maithili Khuje triumphed with 4.5 points Riddhi Palorkar finished second while Aashi Dalal achieved third place.
The prizes were distributed at the hands of NDCA treasurer S. N. Parkh. Organiising secretary Umesh Panbude, chief arbiter Pravin Pantawane and assistant arbiter Shrikant Bagde were also present on the occasion.
