Nagpur: In a meeting held at NMC headquarters between officials of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and NMC Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar reviewed the status of work in progress by JICA team for appraisal of the ‘Nag River Abatement Project’.
National River Conservation Directorate has approved to grant Rs 1252.33 crore for the implementation of the Nag river Abatement project. JICA is the funding agency for the project and a memorandum of understanding was signed on November 28, 2018.
Deputy Assistant Director of South Asia Division 1 (India/Bhutan) Zawzaw Aung and Koyama Haruka of JICA were also present for the meeting.
For the successful implementation of the Nag River Pollution Abatement Project, JICA had appointed Nippon Koi Engineering Consultancy. Since January 9, 2019, Nippon Koei’s officials have started working on the project from NMC headquarters. The officials reviewed their work at the meeting.

Israil Technical Advisor (river and lakes), Takamasa Nishikawa of Nippon Koi Engineering Consultancy, Vidyadhar Sontakke Project Consultant of NJS, Team Members of Project Implementation Unit Dr. Pranita Umredkar, Moh. Shafik, Sandeep Lokhande, Jivtode, Garden Superintendent Amol Caurpagar, R.D. Raut and Sansinwar were also present at the meeting.
