Arbitration, form of alternative dispute resolution is a way to resolve disputes outside the courts. The disputes will be decided by one or more persons, which renders the “arbitration awardâ€. An arbitration award is legally binding on both sides and enforceable in the courts.
A.K. Sharma pointed out that there are a lot of pending cases in the court, where arbitration plays an important role. If these cases are resolved by proper arbitration, the judicial system will be able to take care of more intense cases. He emphasised that more and more cases should be resolved through arbitration. A.K. Sharma also laid down the benefits of mediation/arbitration. He suggested that both the client and the litigant should try and resolve their case mutually. Both the parties have the power of decision making and they should reach to a consensus through arbitration. If this happens, then the court cases will be able to move at a much faster pace. He also said that clients should be informed by the benefits of arbitration by their lawyers.
Advocate Gudhane, said that the Civil Procedure Act 89, enlists that cases like cheques getting bounced, insurance problems, domestic issues, etc. should be resolved through lawful arbitration.
Advocate Rathi points out that the effort should be to resolve the cases mutually through lawful arbitration and proper guidance. A video was shown to the people present, wherein, the emphasis was on how mediation/arbitration can help resolve cases to a great extent. A group discussion was followed after the video presentation and the lawyers were asked questions from the press, students and other volunteers present.

Rajendra Rathi- trained arbitration expert, W.V. Gudhane- trained arbitration expert, Surekha Borkute-Director District Judge Services, Judge officers, advocates, Bank & Insurance officers, students, volunteers and press representatives were present.
