Deputy Mayor of Nagpur, Deepraj Pardikar on Thursday inspected the Kanhan river-bed near Tamaswadi after Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) reported that contractor appointed by WCL creating obstructions in Kanhan.
After the inspection, Pardikar directed NMC and Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) to ensure that there was no obstruction in the flow of water from Kanhan River to NMC’s pumping station.
The NMC officials had informed Pardikar that a new contractor appointed by WCL had allegedly dug up sand and had obstructed flow of water to create pathway.
Soon after Pardkar’s instruction, Ram Joshi, Additional Municipal Commissioner, talked to D M Gokhale, Assistant General Manager of WCL and the obstructions were removed.
Pardikar was accompanied by Pradeep Pohane, Chairman of NMC Standing Committee; and Pintu Zalke, Chairman of Water Works Committee. Pramod Bhasme, officiating Deputy Engineer, Water Works Department of NMC; Manoj Sanngidwar, Junior Engineer; and Dinesh Atalkar, Project In-charge (Kanhan) of OCW also accompanied Pardikar during the inspection of the site near Tamaswadi.
